Upgraded Street Smart 4R70W 4 speed electronic automatic overdrive transmission with locking torque converter for increased fuel economy and performance. Upgrades to the 4R70W include:

Smart Shift stand alone transmission controller that's user friendly and "no-laptop required" allows you to dial in the performance. This transmission controller is compatible with engine EFI setups and traditional carburetor setups which makes it the ideal setup for project cars, hot rods, kit cars, and resto-mods. It is the perfect answer to avoid the pitfalls of "production" engine/transmission control systems. The production wiring and controllers do not work well in project cars. So if you want to use a small block ford engine with an electronic 4-Speed automatic, then this is the answer for your project.

I do NOT recommend buying a Perfiormance Automatic	May 23, 2023

Never shifted properly. I worked with MSD to make sure that the TCM functions properly.
Returned the transmission for warranty repair to PA, (Fredrick, MD). $892 shipping to me.
Reinstalled the transmission. Had the same issues, (as if nothing had been done). Dropped the pan. Pulled the filter, noticed a bolt hanging down a 1/4 inche? from the valve body, (others were loose).
Called PA. Took the transmission to a nearby specialist. The owner/transmission expert dismantled it. Obvious that short cuts were made on the initial build that led to the failure. Also obvious that nothing had been done when I sent it back PA for repair.
After a complete rebuild I was able to put it in the truck. I hadn't changed anything since the removal and was able to reinstall the linkage, drive shaft and hook up the controller. Now the truck and transmission run excellent. The MSD control works perfect, smooth shifting and no problems.

Performance Automatic: Waste of time and money.

RECEIVED TRANSMISSION IN JUST A WEEK AFTER ORDERING. BILL WAS GREAT TO DEAL WITH, I HAVE TOLD SEVERAL PEOPLE THEY NEED TO GIVE AUTOCARS SPEEDSHOP A CALL WHEN THEY NEED FORD RACING PARTS, AS WELL AS EDELBROCK PERFROMANCE PARTS. THANKS MAYES BROTHERS LLC.
