Description
The highly sought after BOSS TracKey calibration is BACK and with more features than ever before. Recently, an update to Ford software created the inability of Ford dealerships to download and install the software for Boss 302 customers. This new Ford Performance offering remedies that issue. This kit comes with a Ford Performance ProCal 2 calibration tool with the exclusive TracKey calibration and a K&N performance drop-in panel air filter. Additionally, this tool offers the customer the ability to modify tire size and rear axle ratio settings in the calibration as well as read and erase diagnostic trouble codes.
TracKey is a 50 state legal aftermarket engine performance software upgrade for the 2012-2013 Boss 302 and Boss 302 Laguna Seca. It is not compatible with any other vehicle.
TracKey is an exclusive Ford Performance calibration that provides added functionality to 2012-2013 Boss 302 owners. This calibration includes these exclusive features:
The TracKey calibration provides the customer with a unique dual key experience that activates the TracKey features once it has been installed. The dual key experience relies on the black key and red key that were included in the original vehicle purchase. The TracKey calibration installation and Ford dealership key re-assignment will make the black key the street key for the stock Boss 302 street tune and the red key the TracKey for the Ford Performance Trackey tune. The TracKey calibration is sold through Ford Performance Retailers. The calibration is downloaded via the exclusive ProCal 2 flash tool that's included. The key re-assignment is done by the Ford dealership service department using their diagnostic tools. The cost of the key re-assignment is not included in this offering and labor rates will vary from dealership to dealership. If you lost or misplaced the black key or red key that was included in the original vehicle purchase, then you can purchase replacement keys and have them cut at the local Ford dealership. There are no keys included in this offering.
How does TracKey work?
TracKey contains exclusive calibration features designed for track use and derived from the same software algorithms and features employed in Ford Performance turn-key race cars such as the Grand-Am Boss 302R, Boss 302S, and Cobra Jet.
Engine performance is similar to the calibration available in the Ford Performance M-FR1-MGTB performance pack and modifies several PCM parameters including:
NOTE: Sales are final. This TracKey software offering is not returnable after purchase.
NOTE: Federal and state laws prohibit any person from installing aftermarket add-on or modified parts prior to the sale of a new motor vehicle.
NOTE: Requires the use of 91-octane or higher ("premium") fuels at all times.
NOTE: Due to multiple powertrain calibrations, online registration is required to receive Pro-Cal calibration delivery tool after purchase. Ford Performance does not ship Pro-Cal tools directly overseas. Customers must make special arrangements with their Ford Performance Distributor. Powertrain calibrations are developed and supported for U.S. and Canadian vehicles only.
NOTE: The TracKey software and calibration are copyrighted works of Ford Motor Company and are protected under US copyright law. They may not be uploaded or copied for any purpose including, but not limited to, calibration modification and/or distribution.
Please see attached instructions. The customer's vehicle will still have to have the key recognized/re-assigned as a TracKey at any Ford dealer. For Technical assistance, please contact the Ford Performance Techline at (800) 367-3788.
No. Only one TracKey can exist for a given vehicle at a time.
A new blank TracKey can be ordered from FCSD (SKU 164-R8021) at the customer's expense. It will then need to be cut, have PATS re-synched, and programmed as a TracKey by performing steps 2 through 21, also at the customer's expense. The PCM does not need to be reflashed again, and the customer does not need to purchase another M-9603-MBTKA kit from Ford Performance. If the old TracKey is found, it will no longer work as a valid TracKey after the new key is programmed.
Yes. The software and air filter can be installed the customer if desired. However, the key re-assignments must be done by the service department at a Ford dealership.
It depends on the part. Cat-back exhaust and Axle-back mufflers are compatible. Rear axle gear changes and tire size changes are compatible. Generally, parts that require a custom tune after installation are not compatible with the TracKey calibration.
Yes. In addition, there may be warranty concerns if the custom calibration has caused engine damage that later results in a failure. Also, engine codes and driveability issues may be triggered due to the previously installed aftermarket engine parts that require the custom calibration.
TracKey is a Ford Performance Performance Parts product and as such is not distributed through the normal IDS production calibration download system. If a TSB requiring a PCM recalibration is performed, the TracKey software will be overwritten and the unique functionality will be lost. The "TRACKEY ACTIVE TRACK USE ONLY" message would still appear on the message center, but no but no action would be taken by the PCM because the unique TracKey software has been overwritten by the reflash for the TSB. If there is any doubt whether or not a certain TSB should be performed, call the Ford Peformance Techline at 1-800-FORD-788, with vehicle VIN, customer voucher ID, and TSB number.
If the TracKey itself has been successfully programmed, the message "TRACKEY ACTIVE TRACK USE ONLY" will appear on the message center when the ignition is turned to the ON position with the TracKey. If both the PCM and the TracKey have been successfully programmed, the green speed control light on the dash will blink continuously twice per second when the engine is running and Pit Lane Speed Control has been activated. To activate Pit Lane Speed control on a 2012 vehicle, press the "OFF" button followed by the "RESUME" button within 2 seconds. To activate Pit Lane Speed Control on a 2013 vehicle, make sure the speed control indicator light is off (not orange or green) then press the "RSM" button twice within 1 second. To deactivate Pit Lane Speed Control, press the "RESUME" or "RSM" button once.
Depending on the build date of the vehicle, the instrument cluster may display one of those two messages once lopey idle mode is enabled. The TracKey software and calibration is identical on all cars regardless of which of the two messages is displayed.
First, verify that the engine oil level is correct. Make sure to use only 5W50 oil, as cam control can vary dependent on oil viscosity. Secondly, turn off all accessories such as air conditioning, rear window defrost, etc. If the idle still isn't lopey, the PCM may need to relearn the zero (or "home") position of the cams. To facilitate this learning process, shut the engine off, restart the engine using the black (non-Track) key and let the engine idle for 5 minutes with the vehicle stationary. Do not touch the accelerator pedal during this time. Once the zero position is learned, it should not need to be relearned unless the battery is disconnected or the PCM is reflashed.
For lopey idle to be enabled, three conditions must first be satisfied. The first condition is The first condition is that 130 seconds must have elapsed since the engine coolant temperature reached 170 degrees F (77 degrees C) while the engine is running. The second condition is that the engine must not currently be idling (Note that it is sufficient just to rev it up in neutral or drive away once the other conditions have been met and lopey idle mode will be enabled). The third condition is that there must be no detected failures of any PCM sensors. Specifically, this means lopey idle will be disabled if any of the following is true:If lopey idle is not being enabled because the PCM is detecting misfires, it may be necessary to perform the neutral profile learn procedure. If the neutral profile learn procedure does not resolve the misfire codes, then the root cause of the misfires must be determined and repaired before lopey idle will be enabled.

TracKey alters the ignition timing and knock sensor calibrations taking full advantage of premium fuel to deliver the maximum torque and throttle response available from the engine. Some slight "pinging" on acceleration from low engine speed may be audible initially but should rapidly subside.
